Our first day in London was short, as our travels down from Hexham took up most of the day. For the short time we had before going to bed, we walked around Central London, hitting all of the tourist areas.
We took the Tube from our Earl’s Court hotel to Westminster. From there, we walked around. We saw many things, including the famous red telephone booths, Big Ben, the Palace of Westminster, the London Eye, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, and St. James’s Park. We really got our steps in after sitting on the train for hours. Walking around London with my classmates was so much fun. It was a beautiful day, and I love how much history London has to offer in such a small area. At one point you may be standing in front of the palace of the most famous royal family in the world and five minutes later you are in front of Westminster Abbey which began being built in 1245 in the beautiful English Gothic architectural style. It truly is amazing how much the city has to offer. We finished the day off with some Indian cuisine, which London is known for.
